Turkana Life Organization

Turkana Life Organization is a community-driven, non-profit organization based in Lodwar, Turkana Central Sub-County, Kenya. Founded by local leaders and vision bearers, we exist to respond to the urgent social, economic, and environmental challenges facing the Turkana people.

Feeding the Elderly and School Children

We provide nutritious meals to vulnerable elders and malnourished school children in marginalized villages. Our feeding programs fight hunger, restore dignity, and boost school attendance.

Mental Health & Drug Abuse Prevention

We break the silence around men’s mental health, offering safe spaces, counseling, and awareness campaigns. We combat rising drug and alcohol abuse among youth through education, peer mentorship, and rehabilitation support.

Climate Change & Tree Maintenance

We go beyond planting trees — we ensure their survival. Through school eco-clubs and community groups, we maintain, water, and protect trees, safeguarding Turkana’s fragile environment.

Agriculture Education for Children

We cultivate a generation of food-secure youth by teaching climate-smart agriculture in schools. Children learn to grow drought-resistant crops and practice hands-on farming in school gardens.

Peacebuilding and Social Cohesion

We promote dialogue, reconciliation, and trauma healing among communities affected by resource-based conflicts. Our peace initiatives engage youth, elders, and women in cooperative projects that foster harmony and reduce violence.

Water Access and Sustainability

Addressing water scarcity by supporting clean water access in schools and communities. Promoting sustainable water use, hygiene education, and community-based water management

Climate Change & Tree Maintenance

Where bare, dry land once dominated, we are nurturing living green spaces. Our focus on tree survival means children grow up learning to protect and sustain their environment, creating a greener Turkana.

Water Access & Sustainability

For families who once walked miles for unsafe water, we are working to bring clean, accessible, and sustainable water solutions. Every borehole or water project reduces disease, improves hygiene, and restores hope.

"We used to walk more than 10 kilometers to fetch dirty water. Today, we have access to clean water near our village, and with training from the Foundation, I grow vegetables for my children. My family is healthier and stronger."

"For many years, our people fought over water and pasture. The Turkana Life Organization brought us together with our neighbors to talk instead of fight. Now we share resources and live in peace. This is the Turkana we want."
